Monarch Migration
The Bartram Garden Club, Inc. invites the community to celebrate the Monarch Migration with us on Saturday, October 12, 2024 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Train Depot Welcome Center Butterfly Garden on Centre Street, Fernandina Beach.
Garden Club members will be at the garden to share information on planting for butterflies. We will be on the look-out for monarchs as they migrate down the East Coast to their overwintering sites. Early October is generally the peak season for monarch migration in Nassau county, subject to weather patterns.
In recognition of the Fernandina 200 Bicentennial Celebration, 200 packets of seeds for non-invasive pollinator friendly plants will be available free to garden visitors. Bring your Bicentennial passport to get your butterfly stamp. Passports will also be available on site.
In collaboration with Main Street Fernandina Beach and the City of Fernandina Beach Parks and Recreation Department, the Bartram Garden Club, Inc. officially adopted the garden renovation as a Civic Beautification project for 2023-2025. In addition to beautification of the Centre Street corridor, the site is an educational demonstration garden and provides an environmental benefit to pollinators.
